Hot Air Balloon Operations

The Civil Air Patrol promotes Aerospace Education in a variety of forms, including lighter than air flight. Two hot air balloons are maintained by the Civil Air Patrol and one of those balloons, Imagination, resides in the Indiana Wing.  The Bakalar Composite Squadron in Columbus, Indiana, is the custody unit of the balloon. Lt. Michael Gallant is the primary balloon pilot in the Wing. Adult Members and eligible Cadets are encouraged to inquire about training as a balloon pilot.
