One mission of Civil Air Patrol is Cadet Programs. The purpose of the Cadet program is to enhance leadership skills in young adults. This program is designed for young adults ages 12-18.

   Leadership
When you join C.A.P. you will find activities, classes, and other opportunities to increase your skills.

Drill and Ceremonies:   Cadets learn military drill such as marching, facing, saluting and many other commands. Our squadron has a Color Guard, a more advanced form of Drill and Ceremonies.
Customs and Courtesies:   C.A.P. is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and C.A.P squadrons run much the same as a military squadron. Cadets and Senior Members must salute military personnel, higher ranking officers, and the flag. All members wear a Air Force style uniform that they must keep to a high standard. There are other details that you will learn upon joining C.A.P. about Customs and Courtesies.

   Physical Training

Our squadron does PT monthly. This can be anything from jumping jacks and running to playing kickball! We also have quarterly PT testing as a mandatory part of the Cadet Program. This includes running a mile in a set amount of time, doing sit-ups and a sit and reach activity to test your flexibility.

Advancement in the Cadet Program

Since C.A.P. is an auxiliary of the Air Force, we have a ranking system much the same. The only difference is you are not able to choose to go in as an officer or to enlist. You simply start at Cadet Airman Basic, and work your way up to Cadet Colonel. To advance in rank, cadets are required to attend meetings & activities regularly and pass tests on Leadership, Aerospace, and Physical Training (PT) for each rank. Click here to see the CAP Ranking Structure
